Athletics

The district is proud to offer a variety of athletic opportunities at the middle school level, which serve as an important extension of the educational experience.

At Kenneth R. Olson Middle School, athletics are structured to prepare students for the rigor and expectations of high school level sports. Coaches support students’ growth socially, mentally, and physically, while also emphasizing essential character traits such as self-discipline, commitment, and integrity.

Seasonal Sports Offerings:

  • Fall: Volleyball, Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Soccer, Cross Country, Field Hockey, ESports
(Season runs from September through late October)

  • Winter: Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball, Cheerleading
(Season runs from November through early February)

  • Spring: Track & Field, Baseball, Softball
(Season runs from March through late May)

Fifth-grade students are eligible to participate in Track and Field and Cross Country. All other athletic programs are open to students in grades 6 through 8.

Please note that students are required to pay a participation fee for each sport.

Academic success remains a priority for all student-athletes. Students must maintain academic eligibility throughout each season, as outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook/BOE policies.

Additionally, a current physical must be on file and remain valid throughout the school year in order to try out and participate in any sport.

Each coach will provide sport specific guidelines and expectations at the start of the season. These guidelines are intended to ensure all participants and families understand the responsibilities and standards associated with each team.

We look forward to supporting your child’s athletic journey and continued growth both on and off the field.
